Passwordless authentication is gaining more and more importance in the world of technology thanks to the benefits it offers as well as the degree of security. Users can easily authenticate themselves using factors such as biometrics, location... Many international companies have decided to implement this authentication method in their business activities, such as Microsoft, Google, Amazon or Airbnb.

How did Google do it?

Google since 2019 opted to implement a Passwordless initiative on its platforms. Users can identify themselves to enter their Google services with a fingerprint or facial recognition. In addition, in a complementary way they implemented this on Google Cloud Platform, further improving the security of their customers' data.

How has Amazon done it?

The giant Amazon has been using password-less authentication since 2016, they introduced authentication using biometrics in their web service (AWS). Since then, they have been gradually implementing this solution in most of the company's services.

How has Airbnb done it?

Since 2018, the real estate rental company has been using biometric authentication for its users to Check-In to their accommodations. This is very interesting as it greatly streamlines the key handover procedure, so the apartment owner does not have to meet the guest. Guests can use their fingerprints or facial recognition to enter their rooms or accommodations.
